January 6, 2013 – Orange Beach, Ala. (OBA) – Just Books & Coastal Video in Gulf Shores will present a book signing featuring local authors during the “Book Lover’s Weekend” as a part of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism's Art, Artisans & Authors Series.

The event will be at the Orange Beach Welcome Center on Monday, Jan. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature local authors Margaret Childress Long, Paris Love, Chris Warner, Joe Gilchrist, Hents Ells, Sonny Brewer and Gilbert Morris.

Long penned “The Best Place to Be: The Story of Orange Beach, Alabama,” a book about the city, the history, and the people who have made Orange Beach the “best place to be.”

Love is the author of “Growing Pains,” which is a story about best friends searching for true love through good times and bad as they try to stay afloat and ahead of the game. It captures the innocence of the heart, the mind, body and soul, of friends who grow up searching for what we all desire: respect, loyalty and most of all, love and companionship.

Warner and Gilchrist co-wrote “Bushwacked at the Flora-Bama.” Gilchrist tells the history of the Flora-Bama, its inauspicious start, its phoenix-like rise, and tragic, near-demise at the destructive hands of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. He chronicles his quixotic run as a fun-loving and free-wheeling entrepreneur during what was, undeniably, a much simpler time, as well as his thoughts about the uncertain future of our great country and free market capitalism, in what is today, an increasingly difficult small business climate.

Ellis, who is a former assistant attorney general and University of Alabama Law School graduate, authored his recently released debut novel “Law School,” a murder mystery blended with a coming-of-age story that is set in and around the University of Alabama with multiple scenes placed at recognizable Alabama landmarks.

Brewer founded Over the Transom Bookstore in Fairhope and its annual literary conference, Southern Writers Reading. He is also board chairman and founder of the non-profit organization, Fairhope Center for Writing Arts. The signing will feature his latest book, “Don’t Quit Your Day Job,” and a Harper Lee Favorite, “A Sound like Thunder.”

Morris, a Gulf Shores resident and Christy Award winning author, is well-known for penning “The Cat’s Pajamas” and “The House of Winslow” series. His current book is “The River Rose: A Water Wheel Novel.”

Also, the final available copies of “Once Upon an Island” volumes I and II, a book detailing the history of Gulf Shores, will be available for purchase during the Jan. 14 event.

The Orange Beach Welcome Center is located at 23685 Perdido Beach Blvd. in Orange Beach while Just Books & Coastal Video is located at 1545 Gulf Shores Parkway Gulf Shores in the Bruno’s Shopping Center.
