MOBILE, Alabama – The Alabama Coastal Cleanup, which began 27 years ago with a few hundred volunteers cleaning up the beaches of Dauphin Island and Gulf State Park, has grown into the state’s largest volunteer event, according to Phillip Hinesley, Coastal Section Chief of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

We met upstairs on the second level of the restaurant where Shrimp Festival posters decorated the walls. This is one of my favorite places to eat. The tourney begins with a shotgun starat at 1 p.m. And lunch and dinner are included with registration. The post tourney party, which starts at 5 p.m., is open to the public and includes live music, beverages, food in addition to a fantastic silent auction.

September 17, 2014 – Orange Beach, AL (OBA) -The Orange Beach Police Department began conducted a seven-month investigation into the sale of Cocaine and Marijuana. Early into the investigation, Salvador Cortez became the main focus as a go to dealer in the area. On Sept.16 members of the Orange Beach Police Department arrested Salvador Cortez a 27-year-old Hispanic Male.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Stewart Walter of Walter Marine has learned to be prepared for just about anything. Walter and crew are in Corpus Christi after pushing the Kinta from Orange Beach where it will become a fishing-diving reef for the Texas Artificial Reef Program. Scheduled deployment is Wednesday, Sept. 17, about eight miles off the Texas coast in about 75 feet of water.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – An abandoned and dilapidated Fairhope home may soon be destroyed to the delight of neighbors. It’s what’s commonly referred to in real estate as a “zombie home” where there’s a discrepancy between the mortgage holder and the owner of record as to who owns the property. The property is on South Ingleside Street about a block from Thomas Hospital. It’s surrounded by weeds and half of a dead tree has fallen across the roof.
