ORANGE BEACH, AL — Two planned condo towers well over 400 feet are causing a stir in Orange Beach, but they aren’t the only beachfront developments in the works. Two other developments within less than a mile of the proposed 435-foot Grace and 450-foot Ascension site have already received the city’s go ahead to build.
PERDIDO KEY, Florida — Hundreds of people left their ovens off and abandoned their kitchens on Thanksgiving and went to the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package for the beach bar’s annual Thanksgiving Day potluck buffet on Thursday afternoon.

FOLEY, Alabama – Police arrested two men Thursday who are accused of holding a female tenant hostage for about three hours at the Park Place Apartments in Foley. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when officers observed Maurice Sanford and Jonathan Minor, both of Foley, at an apartment complex close to Foley High School and Tanger Outlets.
FAIRHOPE, Alabama – A couple of homeowners within a Fairhope subdivision are seeking compensation from the city after the Fairhope Planning Commission denied a rezoning earlier this month that prevented them from selling their properties.

FOLEY, Ala. WPMI It’s become a Thanksgiving tradition in South Baldwin County–Turkey Take Out. With the help of the program, more than a thousand people in the area were able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. ”It’s a great thing. Hopefully we are giving people more than just food. ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The international travel website www.JustShortOfCrazy.com has named the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail as one of the top seven in the United States, ranked Number 2 according to a release on the site. The Orange Beach Trail, which traverses much of Alabama’s Gulf State Park, checked in on the top trails list right behind the world-famous 2,500 mile Pacific Crest Trail.
Landon Cooper and the Miles2Give team have embarked on a 10,000 mile journey across America to raise funds and awareness for Sarcoma cancer research. The Miles2Give team started its run in Times Square on April 29 and their trek brought them to Gulf Shores this week where team members met with Mayor Robert Craft.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is working to locate missing Destin teenager Sommer Spinello, according to a news release from the OCSO. Family members say they last had contact with the 15-year-old by phone while the teen was at school Nov. 19. A bus driver said Spinello got off a bus around 2:15 p.m. that day at McFarlan Avenue and Racetrack Road.

Results of a third-party audit of the oil spill settlement program released Tuesday (Nov. 25) by claims administrator Patrick Juneau show the settlement program has correctly processed 99.5 percent of claims. The audit concluded the program is “well-designed and appropriate” and made no major recommendations for improvement.
A Bay Minette man linked to an armed robbery at Lillian Pharmacy and a theft at Tanger Outlets in Foley last week was arrested in Montgomery County, Mississippi, after a high-speed chase on Monday afternoon. According to U.S. Marshals Service inspector Hugh McClendon with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, William “Jake” McMillan, 27, committed an armed robbery in Choctaw County and a high-speed chase ensued.
A federal appeals court upheld the 15-year prison sentence for a Michigan man who filed a false claim for losses in BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the National Law Journal reports.
FOLEY, Ala. — Plans for a Foley Fire Station in the GlenLakes subdivisions continue to move forward. Foley Fire Chief Joey Darby announced Tuesday that work on the site began this week.
