It’s one of the initial grants awarded to Ocean Camp (OC) after recent designation as an official Federal 501C3 organizational non-profit.

FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) – Just a month ago, Pecan Street was a hollowed out pit that rendered part of the road useless. Now it’s been patched up to the point that it is drivable, a welcome site for residents like Katie Morris. “If you live around here, you know this specific road. You know that this road is the road you take to cut everything in half. Between the traffic of 98 and the ambulances and firefighters and all the people that are busy,” Morris said.

(WPMI) Baldwin County School Board members are expected to decide on whether or not they will relax the uniform policy in the county high schools.The original requests for the school board to look into the issue came from numerous complaints from high school principals, explained Baldwin County School Superintendent, Dr. Alan Lee.

Re-scheduled, scaled-down LA Gumbo Festival to be held Oct. 4 in Orange Beach | AL.com

ORANGE BEACH, Alabama – The second annual Lower Alabama Gumbo Festival has been rescheduled and scaled down to a one-day event to be held 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Oct. 4 at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Ala. The event was originally scheduled to be held over two days on May 10-11. But the threat of dangerous weather that weekend forced organizers to reschedule the cook-off that features the top gumbo chefs from Louisiana and Alabama in fun battle to determine which state makes the best gumbo.

GULF SHORES/ORANGE BEACH, AL –  The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber announced today that Owen Corcoran has been named Special Events & Media Coordinator for the organization. Corcoran, a Gulf Shores resident and Auburn University graduate, replaces Lauren Turner, who resigned last month to pursue a career opportunity in Florida.   He comes to the Chamber from the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Baseball team where he held various duties related to special events, group sales, and group parties.

Blue Angels announce 2015 team members

The Blue Angels on Tuesday announced the officers selected for the 2015 lineup of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. The squadron selected an executive officer, three F/A-18 demonstration pilots, an events coordination officer, two C-130 demonstration pilots, a flight surgeon, and a supply officer to join the 2015 team.

Man hunt comes to end with confession

The three-day pursuit of a former Milton resident accused of three murders in two counties came to a close with no further violence early Tuesday morning. Multiple law enforcement agencies converged on and arrested Derrick Ray Thompson, 41, in a hunting camp outside of Troy, Ala., around 5 a.m. Tuesday.
