GULF SHORES — On Monday the City Council will likely vote to adopt a strategic plan that includes, among other things, development of an East Beach Bypass aimed at getting traffic off of East Beach Boulevard. The goal is to reroute Alabama 182 traffic likely down either East First Street or East Second Street to a new major intersection with Alabama 59 with the intent of making East Beach Boulevard a more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly area.

DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A short teaching career came to an abrupt end this month when 22-year-old Daphne High School Chemistry Teacher Isaac Evans was put on paid administrative leave for allegedly touching two 17-year-olds and providing them alcohol.

FOLEY, Alabama — A study in Baldwin County will look at how to improve the synchronization of 17 traffic lights from County Road 44 to U.S. 31. The Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization, Baldwin County, Fairhope, Spanish Fort and Daphne are teaming to fund the $35,822 study. The study will look at what is the best system to use to ensure that the traffic lights are in sync and are adjusting to the amount of traffic on the roads, said Matthew Brown, coordinator of the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

DAPHNE, Ala. — A 22-year-old Baldwin County (AL) school teacher was booked and shortly thereafter released on bond Monday morning on seven separate misdemeanor charges apparently involving sex with a student or students. Isaac Willis Evans of Daphne was booked into Baldwin County jail at 9:40 am October 27th, according to BCSO corrections records.

WASHINGTON (AP) New research shows that the BP oil spill left an oily “bathub ring” on the sea floor that’s about the size of Rhode Island. The study by David Valentine, the chief scientist on the federal damage assessment research ships, estimates that about 10 million gallons of oil coagulated on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico around the damaged Deepwater Horizons oil rig. Valentine said the spill left other splotches containing even more oil.
