The GSUMC Chancel Choir will present The Many Moods of Christmas, Suite 4, originally conducted by famed choral director Robert Shaw, with full orchestra along with traditional carols as a year-end celebration of the church’s 50th Anniversary. The Choir will also present a group of three anthems by John Rutter, What Sweeter Music, Angel’s Carol, and Christmas Lullaby, and the stirring chorus from Handel’s Messiah, For Unto Us a Child is Born.

Branyon Backcountry Trail named #2 place to hike in the U.S. – GulfCoastNewsToday.com: News

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The international travel website www.JustShortOfCrazy.com has named the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail as one of the top seven in the United States, ranked Number 2 according to a release on the site. The Orange Beach Trail, which traverses much of Alabama’s Gulf State Park, checked in on the top trails list right behind the world-famous 2,500 mile Pacific Crest Trail.

Landon Cooper and the Miles2Give team have embarked on a 10,000 mile journey across America to raise funds and awareness for Sarcoma cancer research. The Miles2Give team started its run in Times Square on April 29 and their trek brought them to Gulf Shores this week where team members met with Mayor Robert Craft.

Robbery, Chase, Crash in Baldwin County

“They went all through this field out here. You can see the tire marks out there.” Jacob Yanish was slow getting up this morning until he heard, “I heard the police siren and a car pulled up. A police car.” It was almost the end of a chase that started with a robbery at this Chevron station in Loxley and involved Caleb Rainwater, Jessica Anderson and their dog.

Search on for missing Destin 15-year-old

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is working to locate missing Destin teenager Sommer Spinello, according to a news release from the OCSO. Family members say they last had contact with the 15-year-old by phone while the teen was at school Nov. 19. A bus driver said Spinello got off a bus around 2:15 p.m. that day at McFarlan Avenue and Racetrack Road.

November 26, 2014 – Gulf Shores, AL – More than 50 festive floats will do their best to light up Gulf Shores on Friday, Dec. 5 as the City hosts its Lighted Christmas Parade and Beach Celebration, but there’s little doubt the brightest star power will be beaming from the celebrity judges grandstand. The City has announced American model, beauty pageant queen, and television personality Katherine Webb-McCarron, reigning Miss Alabama 2014, Caitlin Brunell, and South Alabama Head Football Coach Joey Jones will reign over this year’s parade as celebrity judges.

Audit: Vast majority of BP oil spill claims payments are correct | NOLA.com

Results of a third-party audit of the oil spill settlement program released Tuesday (Nov. 25) by claims administrator Patrick Juneau show the settlement program has correctly processed 99.5 percent of claims. The audit concluded the program is “well-designed and appropriate” and made no major recommendations for improvement.

Lillian Pharmacy robbery suspect arrested after high-speed chase, armed robbery in Mississippi | AL.com

A Bay Minette man linked to an armed robbery at Lillian Pharmacy and a theft at Tanger Outlets in Foley last week was arrested in Montgomery County, Mississippi, after a high-speed chase on Monday afternoon. According to U.S. Marshals Service inspector Hugh McClendon with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, William “Jake” McMillan, 27, committed an armed robbery in Choctaw County and a high-speed chase ensued.

SUMMERDALE, Ala. — A 19-year-old Silverhill man is in Baldwin County Jail on charges of felony rape and possession of child porn. Devin Dante Doyle was booked into the county detention center Tuesday morning, according to jail records. He is charged with single counts of felony rape (2nd Degree), Possession of Child Pornography and Transmission of Obscene Material to a Child.

Rhodes Civic Center was an opportunity to give thanks for those who supported a mission he led in offering World War II veterans opportunities to visit Washington, D.C. Booth, an Eastern Shore dentist, helped organize and lead the Honor Flight South Alabama mission, which provided from 2008-2013, a day-long tour for the veterans to military sites including the World War II memorial, dedicated in 2004.

Pay raises for Baldwin County’s directors moving forward (Updated) | AL.com

BAY MINETTE, Alabama – Christmas could be coming early for nine of Baldwin County’s top directors, after the County Commission Tuesday agreed to across-the-board salary increases. The recommendation, which equates to about an 8 percent boost over their December 2013 salaries, will be voted on by the commission during its Dec. 2 meeting.

Novmember 25, 2014 — Orange Beach, AL (OBA) — The Coastal Arts Center’s After School Arts Program consists of 12-week class sessions for both fall and spring semesters of the 2014-15 school year. Spring classes are Jan. 6 – April 15, but there will be no class on Mardi Gras, the week of Festival of Art, March 8-14 and week of Spring Break, April 5-11.
